- Historical themes and in depth studies covering Early Modern and Modern British and World History, from the Seventeenth to the Twentieth Century.
- The study of Historical controversies and the development of analytical and critical thinking skills.
- The consideration of frameworks, organisations, and belief systems to understand how and why people behaved as they did in the past, and the relevance for the world today.
- An independent personal enquiry which will develop research, communication, and study skills; relevant for Higher Education and employment.
Entry requirements are a grade B or above in History GCSE. A grade B or above in English Language or Literature is recommended.
The course is excellent preparation for a specific degree in History but also for other subjects at degree level including Law, Architecture, Archaeology, Anthropology, Social Sciences, Management, English, Politics, Media and more.
History features in the top five of the most commonly held degrees of the directors of the FTSE 100 companies. The personal skills that the study of History develops are highly valued by employers including the fields of Business, the Civil Service, Public Relations, Journalism, the Police and Tourism.
