Computer Science A Level at Halesowen College

Course description

The course is designed to give you an insight into how computers work. You will learn about the different components and how each of them interacts to make a working machine. You will also learn how computers communicate with each other over a network. In addition you will learn how to write your own programs using the widely used programming language Java.

Entry requirements

  • At least 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C across a range of subject areas, including English Language

You will need to retake GCSE Maths as part of your programme if you do not have a grade C. You may be advised to retake GCSE Science, depending on your chosen career.


Assessment

The course is assessed mainly by written exams with a small amount of coursework.
