Activity Leadership Intermediate Apprenticeship at Derby College

Course description

The Apprenticeship in Activity Leadership (Level 2) is designed for people who wish to gain a broad yet solid foundation in activity leadership, allowing them to follow a career in the outdoor sector or in the active leisure sector as fitness leaders, activity leaders or coaches.

Candidates will need to secure an employer partner with whom the vocational training will take place.

Course content

Your apprenticeship framework will be focussed around activity leadership and activity within a sport and active leisure setting or an educational setting.

Entry requirements

Your apprenticeship framework will be designed around your prior achievements and working requirements. Your standards of English and maths should be suitable for study at this level. Good communication skills are essential.

Assessment

Assessments will take place through vocational competence, the development of a portfolio of evidence and assessment for the technical qualifications associated with the pathway. English and maths will be assessed through controlled assessment or exam.

Future opportunities

You can advance your career within the active leisure industry in roles such as sports coach, sports leader, kids club instructor, multi-sports coach or school sport assistant.
