The term Travel and Tourism covers a wide range of employment opportunities in an industry that is growing fast in this country. This means jobs in travel, tourism, entertainment and hospitality. This type of work can offer exciting careers to those who like meeting people and want more than a routine office job.

Who is this course for?

If you would like to work in a travel agency; become a resort representative or a cabin crew member then this qualification will get you started on the way to your dream career.

Course content

The course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to commence an exciting and fulfilling career within the travel and tourism industry. Units studied such as:

  • Investigating the travel and tourism sector
  • The business of travel and tourism
  • The UK as a Destination
  • Customer Service in travel and tourism
  • Preparing for Employment in travel and tourism
  • European Destinations.
  • Each unit is assessed through the completion of assignments which call on a range of evidence types.

Entry requirements

You will need a minimum of four GCSE’s at grade C (which should include English Language) or a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Travel & Tourism at Merit grade or Distinction plus GCSE grade C in English Language and Maths. You must also undertake a successful interview.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this course you could find employment within the Travel and Tourism industry or move onto higher education with courses such as the foundation degree in Travel and Tourism.
