Children's Play, Learning and Development - Triple Vocational A Level (BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma) at Bolton Sixth Form College
Have you ever wondered where ‘Super Nanny’ Jo Frost gets her ideas? Have you ever heard the term ‘Time Out’? You will be required to complete a minimum of 750 hours in a range of childcare settings. With a balance of practical work experience and theoretical concepts, this Children’s Play, Learning and Development (Early Years Educator) Qualification offers you the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge of working with children aged 0-8 Years.
The course will introduce you to a wide range of interesting and enriching topic areas relevant to early years practice, from practical skills for looking after children to psychological theory of development.You will gain an in-depth understanding of the development of children and how this influences the progress of children as they grow. Using this information you will develop skills in supporting the development of children through the use of activities and observation.
In class you will be carrying out practical demonstrations and practical exercises to prepare you for your work placements with a range of age groups and settings. You will also be assessed using a variety of techniques such as external exam, coursework and demonstrations.
Work placement will support your coursework and by the end of the second year you will have achieved a minimum of 750 hours in a range of child care settings.
During your time at college you will have the opportunity to undertake a first aid qualification.
Students will be expected to have five GCSEs at grade A*C/9-4, or a Merit in a relevant vocational Level 2 Diploma (or equivalent). In addition, students will need a grade 4 in GCSE English Language and a minimum grade 3 in Mathematics. This course requires a high level of motivation and professionalism due to the amount of time spent in childcare settings.
No course fees are applicable for 16-18 year old learners who meet funding regulations.
With this Early Years Educator qualification, you will be able to access a wide range of courses at HE, such as teaching, social work, play specialist, early years and education. At the end of the course you will be a qualified practitioner who will be able to seek employment as a Nursery Nurse or Teaching Assistant.
