Retail Apprenticeship Level 2 at Warwickshire College Group
Apprenticeships are a vocational training programme leading to a series of qualifications, offering the opportunity to earn while you learn using real working life experience. To become an apprentice, you must be employed in a suitable position
Work Based Learning Element - Retail NVQ Level 2: NVQs are work based qualifications that you will complete in your work place. An assessor will be assigned to help you select the modules which best fit with your work and will visit you regularly to help you compile a portfolio of evidence to show your competence. As the NVQ is tailored to the individual, the time taken to complete your portfolio will depend on how quickly you collect the evidence. Normally, an NVQ Level 2 will take a minimum of 12-15 months to complete.
College Element - Technical Certificate Level 2 & Functional Skills:
There will be some College attendance in order to support you as an individual through the knowledge elements of your framework and also assist you to complete your functional skills. Each apprentice will be provided with an individual plan which will be discussed with you and your employer and your timetable will be designed around your specific needs. You will cover topics including:
- Health and Safety in the workplace
- Communications skills
- Team work
3 GCSE passes at D or above including Maths and English
Full time employment in a suitable position will be required to complete the apprenticeship.
Employers who recruit via the college are usually looking for candidates with good GCSE grades. However, attitude, flexibility and a willingness to learn and progress through the apprenticeship programme are as important as qualifications.
Assessment is a combination of portfolio evidence and online and written testing, supported by your assessor and employer.
On successful completion of the level 2 Apprenticeship programme, you will be given advice and guidance about opportunities for further study. Progression to a level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship is possible if your job role is suitable
