Administration (Business Professional) Level 1 at Gateshead College
OCR’s Administration qualification is designed to give you the opportunity to develop your skills to carry out a range of practical administrative tasks to the standard required by business. It will give you the opportunity to prepare for employment in administrative roles. This qualification is nationally recognised and highly valued by employers.
Administration skills are learnt through a combination of classroom and practical learning.
Gateshead College has an office working area in the classroom and students are treated as employees to give you a feel for the workplace environment.
You will use up-to-date technology such as Interactive Whiteboards, IPads and Tablets.
You will also work together to organise an annual charity event where you will be given the opportunity to apply the skills you have learned and demonstrate teamwork.
Throughout your course, you will be given support to develop your skills for job searching, take part in an interviewing skills & techniques session, create a bespoke CV and create a LinkedIn account.
The programme is offered on a full-time basis: 2-3 full days per week.
Working in Administration
Learn the role and importance of an Administrator in a business environment. You will learn how to work effectively in teams.
Creating Business Documents
Use the most up to date software to create eye catching business documents.
Enjoy a work experience placement in our Mail Room where you will have the opportunity to use post equipment (franking machine), learn postal systems and help calculate costs.
Improve your IT skills with bespoke teaching on Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
As part of your Study Programme we will help you to become work ready. If you do not have the necessary A-C grades in Maths and English, you will be expected to attend timetabled classes.
4 GCSEs grade D-G or a Level 1 in maths and English.
Gateshead College has a high success rate as well as strong links with local employers. They are frequently approached for recommendations for upcoming vacancies and apprenticeships.
Past graduates have secured employment as administrators, secretaries and receptionists while others progress onto a Foundation Degree in Business or into an Apprenticeship.
