Health and Social Care Intermediate Apprenticeship at Colchester Institute
The course is aimed at learners aged 16 or over who wish to gain employment within the Health and Social Care sector to include, carer or support worker. Completion of this qualification could then lead to progression to a senior care worker within your chosen setting.
The course combines developing your practical and theoretical skills, together with experience gained in the workplace. Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2. Units include:
- Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care
- Health and Safety
- Equality and Diversity
- Additional Units Tailored to Vocational Requirements
- Employment Rights and Responsibilities
- Functional Skills at Level 1/2 in English and Maths (if applicable)
Candidates should have a strong interest in the area of health or social care. They will need to be dedicated and committed to their study and be responsible for their own learning. It will be necessary to attend an interview with the Apprenticeships team and be asked to complete basic skills assessments in English and Mathematics. GCSE grades A-C in Maths and English desirable but must be willing to achieve Level 1 or 2 in functional skills if they do not have the grades.
The above modules will be assessed practically and through written assessments. This is a practical course where learners will provide evidence through case studies, tasks, professional discussions and Q & A’s along with observations done with your assessor.
Possible progression to a level 3 qualification, advanced Apprenticeship or a specialist pathway. Career pathways may include progression within specialist roles such as care worker, support or outreach worker.
