VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Exercise, Health and Fitness Studies (QCF) at Platinum Training

Course description

The VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Exercise, Health 
and Fitness Studies (QCF) is focused towards 
those seeking to gain a vocationally related 
qualification in the context of exercise, health 
and fitness. This substantive qualification is 
ideal provision to support study programmes. 
 
Within the mandatory element of this 
qualification you will develop the skills and 
knowledge required to plan, deliver and evaluate 
a gym-based exercise programme.
 
You have the option to take additional units 
which include a fitness route in Kettlebell 
training, circuit training and/or studio cycling. 
You may also choose to study a massage route 
which provides a basic introduction to massage 
therapy techniques. 

 

Course content

Units for this course include;

 

Anatomy and physiology for exercise

Know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity

Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment

Principles of exercise, fitness and health

Planning gym-based exercise

Instructing gym-based exercise

Factors affecting participation in sport and physical activity

Leading a healthy lifestyle

People skills in sport and active leisure

Planning and preparing for personal exercise and nutrition

Lifestyle factors and how they affect health

 

Entry requirements

There are currently no entry requirements, a good attitude and keen interest in sports is a must. 

Assessment

Assessments on vocational qualifications are carried out by practical assessment, portfolio and formal examination throughout the course.

 

Assessment on functional  skills are carried out via formal examination with learners encouraged to achieve as high level as they can help with their progression on to further education or apprenticeships.

 

Financial information

Weekly travel payments are paid into students bank accounts on a weekly basis to cover the weekly bus pass.

 

Further financial help and support is available and will be discussed on a individual basis dependant on individual needs and circumstances.

    • The Wilson Road Training Centre houses both the Functional and Employability Skills Department and the Construction Skills Department.

      The site includes a new Electrical Installation Workshop and a new Plumbing Workshop, ideal for students keen to begin the journey into a construction trade.
