Government & Politics AS/A2 at Honiton Community College

Course description

Politics at HCC has always been very much a real-life hands on course. Previous students have met some very well-known national political figures, taken various visits up to London and taken part in a number of extra-curricular opportunities. The AS course is mostly focused on UK politics, and particularly on government. Amongst aother things we look at parliament, the role of the Prime Minister and how elections work, as well as the major political parties in this country. At A2 the focus shifts onto global politics where we engage with global issues such as war, nuclear armament, terrorism, climate change and poverty and development. On the government side, we examine the current state of global governance, looking at institutions such as the United Nations and the balance of power between countries.
