Animal Management (Level 3) - Companion Animal at Askham Bryan College
This pathway focuses on companion animals such as dogs, guinea pigs, rabbits, rodents and reptiles.
While the main focus is on companion animals, a variety of animals are considered in order to develop the skills to care for, handle and manage different animals. This course has been designed to prepare students for a range of business and career opportunities linked to working with dogs and companion animals.
Level 3 Study Programmes:
4 GCSEs at grade 4 (old GCSE grade C) or above to include 2 from English, Maths and Science with at least a grade 3 (old GCSE grade D) in the remaining subject. Alternatively a suitable Level 2 vocational qualification (Merit or above) with English, Maths and Science at Level 2
Your timetable will include a mixture of practical work and classroom (theory) sessions. Vocational programmes are normally assessed through a variation of programme assignments, practical assessment and formal time constrained assessments/examinations.

Further study: Higher Education qualifications such as degrees or Higher National Diplomas in related subjects (including animal management, animal science or animal behaviour and training).
Careers: Positions such as kennel or cattery manager, animal welfare officer, pet store assistant, dog groomer or animal breeder.
