Performing Arts Level 3 Cambridge Technicals at The Bishop Wand Church of England School

Course description

Official statistics published today reveal that the UK’s creative Industries, which includes the film, television and performing arts industries, are now worth £71.4 billion per year to the UK economy – generating just over a staggering £8 million pounds an hour!

This course is about educating students in the knowledge and skills required for employment within the Creative Industries. These qualifications are not just about being able to perform on stage; designed in collaboration with experts spanning the breadth of the sector, they focus on the requirements that today’s universities and employers demand.

Unit 1 Preparing to Work in the Performing Arts sector
Unit 2 Proposal for a Commissioning Brief
Unit 3 Influential Performance Practice
Unit 4 Combined Arts
Unit 5 Performing Repertoire

Entry requirements

GCSE Dance preferable and English 4
GCSE Music preferable and English 4


Unit 1 and Unit 2 are externally assessed in a two week examination period. All other Units comprise of written coursework and practical assessments which are externally moderated.

Some of our students have continued their studies in Performing Arts at Mountview, London Studio Centre and LAMDA to name but a few. Some careers that link to this course are within: Acting, Dance, Singing, Musical Theatre, Dance teaching, Primary and Secondary teaching, choreographing, TV production, nutritionist, event management, theatre design, sports trainer, dance physiotherapy, business management, film studies, journalist, theatre critic, reporter, retail, costume design, visual media, lighting/set design.

Further information

Students will be able to work with professionals in the industry in workshops. We go on theatre trips and back stage trips. Students take part in productions and Performing Arts Festivals and extra curricular clubs.
