Barbering Apprenticeship Level 2 at The London Hairdressing Apprenticeship Academy Limited

Course description

The Apprenticeship in Barbering [NVQ 2] is for those who are interested in beginning a career in a vibrant and creative Industry, The course is designed to provide you with good knowledge of basic gent's hairdressing and is designed for those who have a genuine interest in barbering.  You will study all aspects of barbering one day a week in our state of the art salon within one of our three academies alongside continuing to perfect your skills in your barber shop or salon.
The units are selected on the basis of relevance to the industry and the employability value:

Cut Hair Using Basic Barbering Techniques – including neck line and outline shapes

Cut Facial Hair to Shape Using Basic Techniques – tapered beard line, outlined beard and moustache shapes

Dry and Finish Man’s Hair – various styling techniques and finishing looks using a wide range of products

Create Basic Patterns in Hair – create patterns in the hair including curved lines

Course content

The Level 2 programme in Barbering is made up of 3 key elements:  

• There are six mandatory units with the remainder of the
   qualification made up of optional units which are selected with the
   course tutor and employer to suit business needs:
• Cutting
• Shampooing
• Styling
• Cutting facial hair
• Consultation
• Health and safety


• Creating basic patterns in hair
• Customer care
• Promoting products and services
• Colouring
