Design and Technology (Product Design) A-Level at St Bernard's Catholic Grammar School

Course description

Have you ever wondered where the products you buy in the shops, online, or mail order come from? The products you buy for leisure, sport, health, education, travel or those we use just to function in everyday life. How many times have you used a product and thought ‘that’s a good idea’ or ‘this useless’ and not good value for money? This subject gives you the opportunity to innovate, improve, and develop ideas. It is a subject that is recognised and highly sort after by all the leading universities and further education establishments. It commands great respect by major employees because it teaches you to work independently or as a team member in a variety of roles. It encourages you to adapt, plan and evaluate in all kinds of situation. You have to be able to communicate graphically, orally, make presentations and use ICT effectively as a tool.

Entry requirements

General entry requirements to the Sixth Form are a minimum of three Grade Bs and two Grade Cs at GCSE. Students must obtain at least Grade B at GCSE in the subjects to be studied at A/S level.
