Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Hospitality Management at Telford College Of Arts And Technology - TCAT

Course description

Over the past few years, employment in the hospitality industry
has increased faster than for the economy overall. But there remain
significant skills gaps, particularly in the following areas: customer
service; interpersonal skills; supervisory skills; finance; and
employability skills. This course provides an excellent grounding in
all of these skills gap areas and equips the students with the skills
needed to enter into the important areas of Hospitality, leading to
further study at University or entry to the workplace in sectors such
as Hotels, Catering and Event Management. Areas of study include:
Hospitality Enterprise, Customer Services, Running an Event, Food
Service, Accommodation Services and Basic Financial Management.
Full Time Study Programmes are built around a collection of key
elements which all students benefit from, these include:
 
• Main Qualification in the subject of your choice
• English & mathematics qualifications for all students who have not
yet achieved A*- C grade in either subject
• Work Experience or External Work Placement which is planned
with you at the start of your course and links to your career goals
and ambitions
• Weekly Tutorial with your personal tutor
• A wide range of Enrichment Activities to support your broader
skills, such as teamwork or communication

Entry requirements

Extended Diploma level 3 (e.g. 3x A)

Learners who come in with minimum of 4 GCSE A-C and include both English and Maths at a C Grade

2 Year Course

Diploma level 3 (e.g. 2x A)

(Only in extreme circumstances with Director of approval)

Learners who come in with minimum of 4 GCSE @ C including English or Maths (full level 2 @ M or D & GCSE English C)

2 years course

Sub Diploma level 3 (e.g. 1x A)

Learners who come in with a minimum of 3 GCSE @ C+ English D grade, or FS Level 1 (or level 2 @ M or D)

1 Year course

Assessment

Units are assessed throughout the year through assignments,
coursework, observation of practical activities in our ‘Orange Tree’
restaurant and some exams.

Future opportunities

Various careers within hotels, restaurants, events venues and
event management, or an Advanced Apprenticeship

Further information

A range of trips and visits will support academic work within the
programme, including the opportunity to travel to Europe. Work

All students will be encouraged to participate in extracurricular
activities (trips and workshops) these will be at an extra cost.
 
Further Study
Progression onto HND in Hospitality and Events
Management or through other University related courses.
