Construction Level 2 at Sir John Gleed School

Course description

If you have an interest in the construction industry but have not yet fully decided on a career path, this course gives you the opportunity to try out a range of related activities. The course consists of theory work and practical development of skills.

Course content:

Mandatory (core) units:

  • Structure of the Construction Industry
  • Exploring Heath, Safety and Welfare in Construction
  • Sustainability in the Construction Industry

After completion of the core units you might specialise in the area that you are most interested in by selecting units to tailor your own course from a comprehensive list of units for each area.

The specialist areas include:

  • Joinery
  • Brickwork
  • Painting and Decorating

At least 5 GCSE’s at grade A* - G, preferably including English

Progression routes

To further study

This course allows progression to Level 3 Construction, or similar

To work

Alternatively this course will provide a route to employment in the construction industry or apprenticeship
