Course description

Format of the course

Learners study a range of media forms in terms of a theoretical framework which consists of media language, representation, media industries and audiences. Learners will study newspapers, magazines, television, and online, social, and participatory media. Advertising and marketing film, music video, radio and video games are studied in relation to selected areas of the framework. Aspects of the framework are studied in the following way across 3 components:

Component 1

Investigating the media (external exam= 35% of qualification)

Component 2

Investigation media forms and products (external exam= 35% of qualification)

Component 3

Media Production (non examined assessment= 30% of qualification)

Entry requirements

At least 5 GCSE passes at grade 4 including English at grade 5 or higher
