Performing Arts Musical Theatre BTEC Level 3 at The Hazeley Academy

Course description

The 60-credit BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma extends the specialist work-related focus of the BTEC Level 3 Certificate qualification and covers the key knowledge and practical skills required in the music and performance sectors. The BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma offers great flexibility and a choice of emphasis through the optional units. It is broadly equivalent to one GCE A Level.

You will study units in the following areas:

•       Performing to an Audience
•       Singing Skills for Actors and Dancers
•       Dance Performance
•       Choreographic Principles
•       Voice and the Actor
•       Acting Styles

A passion for the Performing Arts is essential.  You may have your own discipline but should be willing to undertake development in order to improve in other areas of the Performance Course, for example, dance students should be willing to contribute to the drama and musical units as should music specialists be willing to develop their dance and acting abilities.

Entry requirements

Students must have achieved 5 A*-C at GCSE.

Future opportunities

Having completed the BTEC in Performing Arts, you will be ideally placed to progress to Level 4 or 5 BTEC Higher Nationals in Performing Arts or Music, or to other higher education provision, as you will have received a thorough grounding in the knowledge and skills needed.

You could go on to study with many universities and colleges, but the course is also designed to prepare students for working in the industry after completion.
