IT (Software Development) Level 2 at Northampton College

Course description

The OCR Level 2 Cambridge Technical Diploma in IT consists of 2 core units plus additional units, taught over 1 year, in tutor led sessions. Attendance is usually 4 days per week. There is a mixture of practical and theoretical work. You will also undertake a GCSE in either Maths or English. The core units you will study include:- Communication in the IT Industry- Working in the IT IndustryThe additional units include:- Computer Systems- Customising Software- Database Systems- Website Development- Spreadsheet Modelling- Multimedia Design

Course content

The qualification will be suitable for anyone who wishes to develop skills in understanding and using computers within business organisations.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at Grade D or above or a Level 1 qualification in IT.

Assessment

The units are internally assessed but externally moderated through assignments. All units are assessed with course work which is graded, and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded.

Further information

If you are aged 19 or over on 1st September you will pay an examination fee of approximately £130.There will be a trip arranged during your course and we recommend that all students participate. The cost of the trip is approximately £35. All of the above costs are payable at enrolment.
