ICT Level 2 BTEC Extended Certificate at East Surrey College
This qualification will give you experience in a wide range of IT skills from web design and Office applications to basic programming and hardware installation, and provide you with practical assignments. You will develop important skills needed by employers
and it will provide stepping stones for entry to employment.
The Level 2 Extended Certificate consists of three core units and six optional units that provide a total of 120 credits. You will be required to undertake GCSE retakes (English & Maths) if you have not yet achieved A*-C in these areas. Students will also
participate in work experience or a work based project during non-college days.
- Unit 1 – The Online World (External Assessment)
- Unit 2 – Technology Systems (External Assessment)
- Unit 3 – A Digital Portfolio

- Unit 8 – Mobile Apps Development
- Unit 11 – Computer Networks

Five GCSEs grade D or above, including English and Maths or BTEC Level 1 Diploma and GCSE grade A* - D in English and Maths.
Unit 1 and Unit 2 will be externally assessed with an online test. All other units are formally assessed by completed assignment work to meet deadlines.

Please be aware that there may be additional costs for equipment and educational visits. This information will be available from the curriculum staff at interview.
Obtaining a merit or above in this course will allow you to move on to IT BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma or employment at a junior level.
