Creative Media Production BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Burnley College

Course description

This course helps you to develop your Creative Media Production skills and knowledge. The course combines creative, technical and academic elements and assessments to provide you will a well rounded knowledge base of the Creative Media Production industry.

Assignments on this course include:

  • Producing advertisements
  • Analysing and reviewing games
  • Analysing and reviewing radio packages
  • Video production
  • Communication techniques

Course content

You will study a variety of disciplines such as sculpture, graphic design, photography, life drawing and painting, textiles, surface pattern design, TV, film and media production, acting, directing, stage management, music composition, sound recording, musical theory and instrumental and vocal skills. As a Creative Arts and Media student you will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities to enhance your studies. This year our students have taken part in visits to art exhibitions at national and international venues, participated in the College Creative Arts and Media showcase event and Oscars ceremony, taken part in Flash Mob performances, given live drama performances and been involved in projects with local businesses.

Entry requirements

Two GCSEs at grade C or above including English Language OR A Level 1 Diploma and GCSE grade C in English Language.

Assessment

Assessment is via coursework, practical assessment and examination in line with Edexcel board requirements.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of this course will allow you to progress on to the BTEC Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production.

The extensive facilities accessed by our Creative Arts and Media students include Apple Mac and PC suites, art and design studios, a dance studio, a digital video suite including a chroma key studio, industry standard fashion design, textile printing and production facilities, multi-track digital sound recording studios and music and performance rehearsal spaces, including a 160-seater Performance Theatre.
