Electronics A Level at Imberhorne School
The A‐level course will introduce and prepare students for the technological world of the 21st Century. The course covers the relevant theory to give students a full appreciationof where electronics is coming from and where it can lead us. Just look at your current mobile phone and think of the first one you had, what has changed, how much more can it do?
To study this subject you will need a minimum of five GCSE subjects at Grade A*‐C. Due to the demands of the course, Electronics requires the same entry levels as the other A Level Science subjects. Students require a minimum of grade BB from GCSE Science and B GCSE Maths. Previous knowledge of electronics is not a pre‐requisite.
A Level electronics is seen by universities as a 'science subject'. It complements physics, IT and maths A levels for students whoa re considering engineering, applied physics or computing degrees or careers. There is a great opportunity for specialisation in many different specific fields such as avionics and bioelectronics and robotics.
