Film Studies AS/A-Level at Shire Oak Academy
Assessment of the course units takes place in May/June, both in AS and A2. Each unit has its own weighting which will be made clear to the students, but in general terms, 55% of the A level grade is achieved through examinations and 45% by coursework. This shows the importance placed on practical production of film in this course.
Students must achieve a grade C or above in GCSE English or English Literature and have a keen interest in film.
An A level qualification in Film Studies can be used to pursue a degree in film, media, visual culture, communication, humanities or other vocational courses and will develop a range of transferable critical, analytical, creative and research skills.
