Course description

The legacy of the Olympic and Paralympic Games has increased sports participation and enthusiasm at all levels, creating a demand in the sports science and sports therapy fields.

If you're looking to pursue a career in these fields then this course is an ideal starting point. It will provide you with a balance of academic and practical learning, however, it is important to note that there is a significant amount of research involved in studying for this qualification.

An on-going multi-million-pound investment programme to build state-of-the-art sports facilities will ensure you have access to some of the best training and teaching resources available.

You’ll also gain applied experience opportunities through the use of our Human Performance Laboratory and Therapy Suite.

Course content

This course combines both theoretical teaching and practical sessions, enabling you to utilise the extensive range of facilities that are available to you including laboratories, the Sports Academy Centre and the Therapy Suite.

The majority of modules place a significant emphasis on Sports Science.

Entry requirements

6 GCSE’s at “C” or above, including Maths, English and Science

 

Financial information

Tuition fees

Students under 19 on 31 August 2015 are free (full time courses only). Examination fees for main qualifications are also free.

Students aged 19 to 23 may need to pay tuition fees. We may be able to waive your fees if you are unemployed and receiving Jobseekers Allowance, studying your first full level 2 qualification or level 3 qualification. Please visit this page for more information.

Educational visits charge: An annual £65 fee is payable for all students and covers the cost of outside visits, special speakers and a contribution to the cost of administration.

 

Future opportunities

You’ll have the opportunity to enter employment in the sport and active leisure sector or to progress to university to study Sports Science or Sports Therapy related programmes.
