Extended Project at Chatham Grammar School for Boys
The Extended Project gives students the opportunity to undertake a short research project on a topic of their choice. Universities look upon this qualification favourably as it gives students a good grounding in the learning skills they are expected to learn and use in their senior academic life.
The Extended Project allows you to choose investigate and present on any topic of your choice; the only limits are your available resources and imagination.
A minimum of 5 grade A* - C GCSEs
The project consists of either a written submission of around 5000 words or an artefact with a smaller written element. In either case the assessment is carried out internally on the final submission. There are 3 compulsory sections, a project log, a presentation and the actual project.
Most universities will accept the EP as part of their main points requirement for entry to courses. In some cases students with an EP qualification may be excused some first year introductory classes. Many Universities will offer a lower points score for admission if an EP is included.
