Applied Health and Social Care A Level at The Whitehaven Academy

Course description

Single Award: Communication in care settings, promoting good health, promoting quality care, care practice and provision, mental health issues, anatomy and physiology in practice.

Double Award: in addition to the single award study areas above, you will also study working in early-years care and education, health as a lifestyle choice, caring for older people, child development, research methods in health and social care, social trends.

Entry requirements

Five GCSE grade Cs or above, including a grade C in English Language. Grade C or above in GCSE Child Development or Health & Social Care would be an advantage.

Assessment

Single Award – 4 coursework units and 2 written exams

Double Award – 9 coursework units and 3 written exams

Future opportunities

Early years teaching, nursing, psychology, physiotherapy, radiotherapy, social care, speech therapy, diet and nutrition, and other health related careers.
