Applied Law BTEC Level 3 at Shire Oak Academy

Course description

In Y12: The course includes a general overview of the legal system in England and Wales and how both the criminal and civil courts operate and the role of people within the legal profession.

In Y13: Students study certain topics in more depth, the topics currently offered by the school include Criminal Law.

Entry requirements

You will be expected to have at least a grade C in GCSE English Language. (This is because the study of law requires a great amount of reading and analysis of legal cases).

Future opportunities

Law is an excellent foundation for both a career and studying at University. It prepares you for many professions: police force, legal profession, teaching, human resources, civil service, local government, politics, social work and retail management.
