Art A Level at Lytham Sixth Form College

Course description

This A level provides the ideal springboard to a wide variety of related courses and careers, including: scientific illustration; fashion; sculpture/3D design; general illustration; fine art; and other visual related studies in film, animation and design. At the start of the course students take part in teacher-led practical creative tasks based around a generic starting point or theme. All students then develop their own personalised responses leading to a finished piece of artwork. The initial introduction of new formal practical skills provides the basis for creative exploration and development in a diversity of media and genres to establish a unique signature style.

Entry requirements

In order to study this A level programme students must gain 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C or an equivalent full Level 2 qualification, including English Language or Maths as well as a grade B or Merit in an Art subject.

Assessment

A Levels are assessed by a mixture of coursework and exams.

You could be eligible for a 16-19 bursary to help with education-related costs.
