Geography at Thamesmead School

Course description

This course is designed to help students to develop a sound understanding and knowledge of geographical themes, issues and skills. Geography is broken down into three main areas - physical, environmental and human geography. Physical geography looks at environments such as rivers, glaciers and coastal landscapes. Human geography looks at agriculture, industry and how the environment shapes people's lives. It involves using maps, statistics, photographs and taking part in field trips

Future opportunities

You could take this course to prepare for advanced level courses such as an A/AS Level in Geography or you may need to strengthen your grades by completing a foundation or intermediate vocational qualification. With further training, you could go into a job related to geography such as a Weather Forecaster, Teacher or Travel Agent You could also go straight into employment and do further training or part time study with the support of your employer.
