Resistant Materials (Design & Technology) AS/A2 at Sir Frederic Osborn School
The Resistant Materials course is designed for
students who have enjoyed and achieved well at GCSE.
Resistant Materials provides exciting opportunities to develop
their capabilities through: combining designing and making skills
with knowledge and understanding, creating quality outcomes and
becoming informed users of products.
This course contributes to the development of young people by
preparing them to participate in, think about and intervene creatively
to improve the quality of tomorrow’s rapidly changing technologies.
You will study two units in Year 12 and two in Year 13. One unit is
based around the knowledge and understanding of Product Design
and the other unit is a coursework project and design folder which
will be based on a product of your choice. This course is perfect for
any student who wishes to pursue a career in such areas as Product
design, Industrial design, Interior design and furniture making.
Please note: Students cannot opt to study Resistant Materials
(D&T) and Graphics (D&T) AS or A2 as a combination.
A*-C GCSE in D&T subject*APS: 40 or above
