Apprenticeship - Level 2 Diploma in IT Professional Competence at County Training - Shropshire Council
ICT is all around us and plays a central part in all of our lives. It is a sector which is growing and advancing all the time and good ICT skills are becoming an essential quality that all employers look for in their staff.
This qualification will help you to learn and understand the development of computer solutions that help businesses and individuals become more successful in their work.
The Level 2 qualification is ideal for those looking to work, or starting out, as a Systems Analyst, System Support Technician, Web Designer or Software Developer.
IT Professional Competence Intermediate Apprenticeship
You will work towards a framework of qualifications which will include:
- Level 2 Diploma in IT Professional Competence
- Level 2 Award in ICT Systems and Principles
- Level 1 Functional Skills in English, Maths and Level 2 in Information Technology
- Employment Rights and Responsibilities
- Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
Before you can start this course, you will need to have a relevant paid work placement of at least 30 hours per week. You need to be in a role that requires you to use IT as a main part function (but not necessarily solely) of your work. There may be existing placements available or County Training can provide you with support to find a placement. This may be through an interview, some support with writing applications or preparing a CV, or even through work-experience placements.
Training is delivered in the workplace and an assessor will monitor your progress and conduct assessments in the workplace.
An electronic portfolio system will also be utilised to increase assessor accredibility for customers.
The technical certificate and functional skills are delivered at County Training's Microsoft IT Academy.
The cost will be dependent on individual circumstances, there may be funding available to cover training costs.
For 16-18 year olds undertaking an Apprenticeship, training will be fully funded. A contribution of £250/£350 may be required for individuals aged 19 and over depending on existing qualifications held.
On completion of the Level 2 Diploma in IT Professional Competence, candidates may progress onto higher level qualification such as the Level 3 then 4 Diploma or higher education such as a Foundation Degree or Honours Degree in IT Management for Business or other non-IT sectors such as management, Finance or Business Skills.
County Training is an accredited Microsoft IT Academy, offering several courses in Information Technology, whether you want to study a vocational qualification or take a range of shorter courses covering paticular IT skills.
