Course description

ICT is the “literacy of the Computer Age” and involves a thorough understanding of the issues, body of principles, knowledge and skills which make up this diverse and challenging subject. Candidates are encouraged to become discerning users of ICT, to develop a broad range of ICT skills and knowledge and understanding. This should form a basis for progression into further learning, including progression from AS to A2, and/or employment.Specifically, it encourages candidates to develop the capacity for thinking creatively, innovatively, analytically, logically and critically. It develops candidates' ability to apply skills, knowledge and understanding in a range of contexts to solve problems. It encourages an understanding of the consequences of using ICT on individuals, organisations and society and of social, and helps candiates gain awareness of social, legal, ethical and other considerations on the use of ICT. It also encourages students to develop an awareness of emerging technologies and an appreciation of the potential impact these may have.
