Horse Management Level 3 Extended Diploma at Bridgwater College

Course description

This course is ideal for anyone who is wishing to pursue a career in horse management. The course modules cover a wide range of topics which are supported by visits and guest speakers from the industry. The Level 3 Extended Diploma will provide you with the knowledge you would require to progress on to a Level 4 qualification in equine science or management.

  • Stable and yard duties
  • Riding and exercising horses
  • Horse behaviour and welfare
  • Horse breeding and stud practices
  • Fitness and training

  • Horse tack and equipment
  • Prepare horses for presentation
  • Specialist project in the horse sector
  • Working horses from the ground
  • Equestrian teaching

Entry requirements

You will need at least five GCSEs in the A* - C range, including GCSE Science, English and Maths, or an appropriate Level 2 qualification at Merit level. You will also need to be a competent rider on the flat and over small fences. Entry is also subject to a successful interview and riding assessment.

Future opportunities

Once you have successfully completed this programme you can progress onto a Foundation Degree or BSc (Hons) degree in Equine Science/Management. Alternatively, you could enter employment at supervisory level in riding schools, livery yards, competition grooms or progress on to Preliminary Teaching Test programmes.
