Further information

A level maths is a challenging and stimulating course. We have the highest expectation of our students and work hard to ensure that all students achieve their potential. It is an important entry qualification for a range of university courses particularly Computing, Business Studies, Accountancy, Science and of course Mathematics. It also enhances employability in many areas.

Further maths is an option for those with a strong aptitude for mathematics, who should have achieved A* at GCSE. This option results in a highly valued second Mathematics A Level. It is almost essential for anyone wishing to study the subject at university and is very useful for those going into a mathematically orientated subject such as Engineering or Physics. Students need to be aware that the majority of this course is delivered by an external provider on a distance learning basis. Students need to be highly organised to be able to cope with the demands of this learning approach. Extra support for this is provided by teachers within the school.
