Course description

Advanced Apprenticeship 

  • Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support Services, Clinical Healthcare Support or Perioperative Support
  • Level 3 Award in Employment and Personal Thinking Skills
  • Level 2 Functional Skills - Maths and English

Length of the course - 18 Months Approximately

During the Apprenticeship, you will cover areas such as:

  • Causes and spread of infection
  • Equality and inclusion
  • Safeguarding and protection
  • Person-centred approaches
  • Health and safety
  • Handling information 

Who is it for?

The healthcare sector employs over 2 million people with over 300 job roles, including clinical healthcare support workers and support staff such as porters or domestics.

These roles can vary and depend on the area of healthcare you work in, you could be based in a hospital ward, an outpatient’s clinic, theatre or specialised service.

In order to start a Healthcare Apprenticeship at either Level 2 or 3, you need to have a job or a placement in the industry as it is a work-based qualification.

Before you can begin working you will need enhanced background checks by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) – formerly the Criminal Records Bureau.

Entry requirements

Level 3 Healthcare Apprenticeships require you to have a Level 2 Healthcare qualification or significant experience in the sector. 

Financial information

Aged 16-18
Fully funded

Aged 19-23
Fully funded for employers with less than 1000 employees. For employers with 1000+ employees, please contact us for further details.

Aged 24 and over
Total People require employers to make a contribution towards the cost for all learners aged 24 years and over, embarking on an Apprenticeship.
