BTec Lvl 3 Subsidiary Diploma Sport (60 credits) at Warlingham School
Description: The BTEC Nationals in Sport provide an introduction to the sector for learners looking to build a career in sport, within one of its occupational areas. These area sinclude careers in exercise and fitness, coaching and leadership, sports development and the outdoors. At the BTEC Diploma and Extended Diploma level, there are three specific specialist pathways to choose from: Development, Coaching and Fitness. The specification has been structured to allow learners maximum flexibility in selecting optional units, so that particular interests and career aspirations within the sport and active leisure sector can be relected in the choice of unit combinations. Assessment format: - Qualification credit value: a minimum of 120 credits - Minimum credit to be achieve at, or above, the level of the qualification: 90 credits - Mandatory unit credit: 70 credits - Optional unit credit: 50 credits - A maximum of 10 optional credits can come from other QCF BTEC units to meet local needs. Units: There are a large number of units that can be studied. Most of the units below will be studied during the two years of the course. 1. Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport 2. The Physiology of Fitness 3. Assessing Risk in sport 4. Fitness Training and Programming 5. Sports Coaching 6. Sports Development 7. Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise 8. Practical Team Sports 9. Practical Individual Sports 10. Exercise, Health and Lifestyle 11. Rules, Regulations and Officiating in Sport 12. Leadership in sport 13. Sports Injuries
A minimum of five A*- C grades and a C grade at GCSE in PE or BTEC Sport Level 2 qualification at Merit grade.
