IT BTEC level 3 (double award) at The Thomas Aveling School

Course description

· Principles of Computer Networks

There is scope within the Double Award in Year 13 for students to focus their studies in a particular field, including networking, i-media & IT technical support. Students have to undertake research and as such have a considerable choice as to what to include in their assignments. 


Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSE passes at Grade A* - C is needed in subjects relevant to the course, or a Pass, Merit or Distinction in vocational IT (Level 2). 


Future opportunities

The BTEC gives learners the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised vocationally specific qualification to enter employment in the IT sector or to progress to higher education.

The qualification also gives learners the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life.
