Children and Young People’s Workforce Apprenticeship Level 3 at JR Training Hampshire Limited
The Level 3 Apprenticeship is aimed at those people already working in the Children and Young People sector. For example, you may be working as a child minder, day care supervisor, senior care worker, nursery nurse or as a Teaching assistant. You may or may not have some supervisory responsibilities. This course is ideal for workers who are looking to progress to more senior roles in the sector such as managing a room in a nursery. The apprenticeship is different from the standard level 3 diploma by including additional units that further enhance the learners skills in the sector as well as generally in the workplace. The apprenticeship contains:
– Level 3 Diploma in children and young people’s workforce.
– Level 2 Award in Employment Responsibilities and Rights in Health.
– Functional skills mathematics and English level 2.
– Personal Learning and Thinking Skills.
You must then select one mandatory occupational pathway for the diploma from:
- Early Learning and Childcare (22 credits).
- Social Care (13 credits).
- Learning, Development and Support Services (13 credits).
The qualification is made up of a core of mandatory units that meet the regulatory requirements of the course and optional units that tailor to the learners work field within the childcare sector. Each unit has a credit value that contributes to the minimum 65 credit requirement of the qualification. The course criteria are assessed by portfolio of evidence produced by the learner and through assignments. Skills are assessed in the workplace via observation of performance. Knowledge can be assessed both in and out of the workplace. All assessment is tailored to meet the learning needs and preference of the individual learner.
To be eligible for enrolment on this course there are no academic requirements but the learner needs to be working in a job role equivalent to the course they wish to take i.e. senior care worker or nursery nurse. The learner must work a minimum of 16 hours per week to start this course but it is recommended the learner works 30+ hours a week in their Childcare setting.
