Vehicle Accident Repair (Paint) Diploma Level 2 at St Helens College

Course description

This course builds upon the knowledge and skills previously gained at level 1.

You'll be learning how to prepare metals and other surfaces for repair and discovering how to apply fillers and foundation materials to vehicles before going onto repair paint defects.

  • Spray gun set up and techniques
  • Rectification of paint defects
  • Substrate identification
  • Knowledge applying topcoats and lacquers

Entry requirements

You should have GCSEs at grade C in maths and English, although we may accept grade D if you also have a grade C in IT.

English and maths forms an important part of your future, ensuring you achieve the best success in your chosen career. But don't worry, if you haven't got the desired grades, we will still have a course available for you.

Assessment

You'll be assessed in a motor vehicle workshop environment, completing practical and written assessments and online multiple choice tests, in addition to e-portfolio building.

Financial information

If you are a school leaver, aged 16-18, (under the age of 19 on or before 31st August 2016), you do not pay tuition fees or examination and registration fees and may be eligible for additional support depending on your financial situation.

Future opportunities

Once you've completed this course, you'll be ready to start your career in vehicle body and paint repair.

You may choose to further your skills and knowledge on a level 3 course, or progress onto an apprenticeship.
