Diploma in Art & Design Level 2 at West Kent College

Course description

This course will allow you to develop your creative skills through experimenting with a range of media, techniques and processes, developed through vocational assignments.

You will explore different materials and techniques such as drawing, painting, printmaking, 3D design, textiles, photography and digital design through undertaking a range of creative projects. Alongside your practical work, you will study the work of other artists and designers throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. You will also study English and maths if you have not yet achieved a GCSE Grade C/4 in these subjects.

At the end of your course, your work will be exhibited in the College end of year show.

Entry requirements

You will need four GCSEs at Grades D/3 or above, including English and maths and an art and design subject.

Alternatively you may also progress onto this course if you achieve our Level 1 Diploma in Art and Design and functional skills qualifications in English and maths.

You will be required to attend an interview with your portfolio of art and design work to demonstrate your practical and creative skills. You also need a positive recommendation or reference from your school/tutor.

Future opportunities

If you achieve a merit or above you could progress onto a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design, Creative Media Production, Fashion and Textiles, Graphic Design or Photography.
