Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport or Outdoor Adventure at Newton Rigg College

Course description

During the Level 3 Diploma in Sport (Rugby, Football & Personal Trianer options)  or Outdoor Adventure pathways - you will specialise in modules relating to either outdoor adventure or coaching depending on which route you have chosen.

 

Modules will include the study of anatomy and physiology, fitness and

training and the environment. This course combines both

theory and practical work, spending at least one day per week

in the outdoors putting theory learnt into practice. Activities

for adventure students may include some or all of the

following; canoeing, mountain biking, kayaking, rock climbing,

ropes courses, orienteering and mountain walking. Sport

development, coaching and fitness.

 

The Sport Option may include

football, rugby and personal trianer pathways.

 

You also have the chance to attend several residential trips

during the two years. You will also have the opportunity to gain

valuable work experience and the course will also help with

employment skills and/or university options.

Entry requirements

Normally four GCSEs at grade C or above (which should include English, Maths and Science as applicable to the individual course), or an equivalent Level 2 qualification at a suitable grade.
