English Literature AS/A2 Level at Chichester High Schools Sixth Form
The A-level course uses the historicist approach to texts which rests upon reading texts within a shared context.
Students are encouraged to explore the relationships that exist between texts and the contexts in which they were written, received and understood. Students are encouraged to read widely across a range of texts and connect them across time and topic. Appreciating alternative readings and allowing for a range of interpretations is also central to the methods students will use to approach texts. Students will be encouraged to create an argument and show personal preferences for interpretations of texts.
