Science - Apprenticeship Laboratory Technician Level 3 at Kirklees College, Huddersfield Centre

Course description


As an Apprentice Laboratory Technician you will attend College one day a week and spend the rest of the week with a company.

Laboratory technicians work in a wide range of organisations, including but not exclusively, chemical, primary and secondary pharmaceutical, biotechnology, formulated products, nuclear companies; and analytical science services.  Working as laboratory technician you may carry out both routine and one-off laboratory testing and perform a variety of technical support functions across the organisation. 


Entry requirements

• A minimum of 5 GCSEs with the following grades:

English and maths at 5 or above, and 3 other GCSE’s grade C or above including a science subject


• A minimum of 5 GCSEs grades A*-C or
equivalent, including English language,
maths and science, or
• level 2 science qualification and English and
maths at level 2.


 You will be assessed in the work place and through assignment  at College

Future opportunities

Supervisory/Senior  technician roles with  additional qualifications potential routes to   Scientist, technologist or educationalist..
