Course description

The course will cover units including Anatomy & Physiology, Fitness
Testing, Fitness Training Programmes, Sports Nutrition and Exercise
Health and Lifestyle. Full Time Study Programmes are built around a
collection of key elements which all students benefit from,
these include:
 
• Main Qualification in the subject of your choice
• English & mathematics qualifications for all students who have not
yet achieved A*- C grade in either subject
• Work Experience or External Work Placement which is planned
with you at the start of your course and links to your career goals
and ambitions
• Weekly Tutorial with your personal tutor
• A wide range of Enrichment Activities to support your broader
skills, such as team work or communication

Entry requirements

Extended Diploma level 3 (e.g. 3x A)

Learners who come in with minimum of 4 GCSE A-C and include both English and Maths at a C Grade

2 Year Course

Diploma level 3 (e.g. 2x A)

(Only in extreme circumstances with Director of approval)

Learners who come in with minimum of 4 GCSE @ C including English or Maths (full level 2 @ M or D & GCSE English C)

2 years course

Sub Diploma level 3 (e.g. 1x A)

Learners who come in with a minimum of 3 GCSE @ C+ English D grade, or FS Level 1 (or level 2 @ M or D)

1 Year course

Assessment

You demonstrate your learning by completing projects and
assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations,
activities and demands. The course will be theory based sessions
delivered in the classroom and practical fitness sessions

Future opportunities

Sports Coach, Gym Instructor, Personal Trainer or an Apprenticeship

Further information

All sports students are required to purchase specific branded kit/
uniform approximately £70 additional support for funding may be
available through Learner Services /grants department. There will
be a range of trips organised such as - Sport City; Wolf Mountain;
Horsehay; Waterworld; Stoke Ski Centre which students will be
required to pay for. In addition to the full-time Level 3 Sports course,
students may be able to access TCAT Sports Academy in Rugby,
Football, Basketball and Netball, which consists of training on a
Monday afternoon and fixtures on a Wednesday afternoon.
All students will be encouraged to participate in extracurricular
activities (trips and workshops) these will be at an extra cost.
 
Further Study
Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, Gym Instructor course or HND in
Sports Performance and Coaching.
