Music Technology A Level at Queen Mary's College

Course description

The AS/A2 Music Technology course gives you the opportunity to arrange, record and compose music. You will use industry standard hardware and software, including our purpose built recording studio, to develop your skills and knowledge. Using software such as Logic Pro, Pro-Tools and Sibelius you will gain an excellent grounding in the principles and technical processes involved in modern music production. Analysing musical style and genre plays an important part of the AS Level exam. Music Technology is a combination of a wide range of skills and as such you will already have an understanding of music theory and may even have had the opportunity to use Music Technology software at school or at home. The AS focus is on: Music technology portfolio 1 - a recording, an arrangement and a sequenced performance (coursework) and Listening and Analysing (examination). The A2 focus is on: Music technology portfolio 2 - a recording, a composition and a sequenced performance (coursework) and Analysing and Producing (examination).
