Business Studies AS/A2 Level at Netherthorpe School
This course has been designed to enable students to gain an understanding of the key business pathways and the application of business principles. The content of the compulsory and optional units provides students with:
knowledge of the key aspects of Investigating Business, People in Business, Financial Planning and Monitoring, Business Planning, Marketing Strategy and Managing People.
an awareness of how industry applies planning and strategy to all sectors of business activity and the role of new technology.
the opportunity to learn about the basic principles underlying business practice, familiarity with a range of business systems.
an understanding of the importance of ensuring that the various key business activities work in unison towards a common purpose in the context of any commercial firm.
The course of study prescribed by this specification can reasonably be undertaken by candidates entering this vocational area for the first time. However, students must meet the school’s entry requirements of five A* to C or more at GCSE.
4 units are coursework and 2 units are exams.
The Advanced Subsidiary (AS) and Advanced Applied qualifications have been designed to provide a broad education as a foundation both for training leading to employment, and for further and higher education.
This is achieved by ensuring that candidates develop the general skills, knowledge and understanding that underpin a range of occupations or professions.
