Course description

WHY STUDY TEXTILES?
It is 50% coursework with practical work being a large element of this

Course content

Year 12
Unit 1 – Exam – 50%
Unit 2 – Coursework – 50%

During the first year you will:

  •  Complete a design and make project
  •  Present a wide range of fashion design ideas
  •  Learn about different fibres and fabrics
  •  Carry out a range of Product Analysis tasks
  •  Answer a range of questions from past examination papers
  •  Find out about Fashion from past movements and modern fashion designers
  •  Sit a two hour written exam

Year 13

Unit 3 – Exam – 50%
Unit 4 – Coursework – 50%

During the second year you will:

  •  Complete a major design and make project
  •  Present a wide range of fashion design ideas
  •  Learn about different industrial and commercial practices
  •  Learn about product life cycle and fashion cycles
  •  Answer a range of questions from past examination papers
  •  Find out how things are marketed and the role new technology plays
  •  Sit a two hour written exam
