BTEC Public Services at Northumberland CofE Academy

Course description

The BTEC in Public Services hones your skills in leadership,
teamwork, communications, problem solving, and fitness.
You’ll be doing a mix of theory and practical work
(including adventure training activities), and the qualifica-
tion you’ll get is the same as 1 GCSE at grade A*-C. You’ll
come away with really useful life skills too – like how to
write a good CV, interviewing techniques, communica-
tion, first aid, adventure training, health and nutrition.
There are four essential units:
 Public Services Skills.
 Employment in the Uniformed Public Services.
 Health and Fitness.
 Adventure Activities and Teamwork.
There are also a number of additional units that learners
can choose from to achieve the qualification.
Adventure Training and Cadets will be an aspect of the
course and there will be visits to and from serving
Uniformed Services.

at least Merit grades in a BTEC subject at GCSE level
