Spanish at The Grange School

Course description

cours e structur e

For Spanish AS level and A level the WJEC specification is used.

During the AS level you will study topics such as ‘el turismo’, ‘la salud’,

‘tradición y costumbres’, ‘relaciones y responsibilidades’, ‘el matrimonio’,

‘los jóvenes’, ‘la educación’ y ‘el mundo laboral’.

These will then be followed at A level by ‘el medio ambiente’, ‘el transporte’,

‘la inmigración’, ‘el racismo’, ‘el terrorismo’, ‘crimen y castigo’ y

‘la globalización’.

During the UVI, you will carry out two cultural studies from a selection of

literature, films and regions of Spain. You will then be assessed on your

knowledge of these in the A2 speaking and writing exams.

You will also spend time each cycle talking to the school’s Spanish language

assistant. This will help you to improve your spoken Spanish.

Language lessons consist of many activities: Apart from reading, speaking,

listening and writing using text books, you will have regular lessons in the

new language laboratory, where you will use authentic material to enhance

your language skills. Other authentic material such as the Internet,

newspapers, magazines, films, programmes and songs will also be a

fundamental part of the course.

Students also have the opportunity to travel to Spain, either for

work experience, a language exchange or an intensive language course

in Salamanca.
