Course description
Childcare is a growing sector with thousands of job opportunities, leading to careers that can be extremely rewarding and diverse. Opportunities include working as a nanny, childminder, crche worker or nursery assistant as well as many other possibilities. We will help develop your skills to the highest level, whichever career path you choose.
Course content
A one year course, the content of which is divided into four themes-1) The Role of the Early Years practitioner, 2) Legislation, frameworks & professional practice, 3) Play, development & learning for school, 4) Professional development. Each theme is assignment based. All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. Work experience includes a minimum of 250 placement hours (2 days a week). Assessment of skill competency will take place in the real working environment.
Future opportunities
The course will give you a Level 2 qualification to work with Children from 0-5 years and knowledge up to 7 years.
What can I do when I finish?
Progression internally: You may be able to progress to the Level 3 Early Years Educator course. Employment opportunities: child and family centres; community nursery; nursery worker; day nurseries; and hospital nurseries. Child-minding, nanny work. Early Years Educators may also work in primary schools to support the work of teachers.
